SUBLIMOTION: What does the most expensive meal in the world taste like?

Imagine a team of ten chefs with Michelin stars, capable of turning a table into a stage and a dining room into a star. We’re sure this has already tickled your palate

For more than twenty years, the culinary world has been fascinated by the future, searching for something “slightly” more modern that would be applied in gastronomy. Many chefs use science every day in the preparation of their meals, aware that the impression that guests take does not depend only on the selection of good food, but also on the inclusion of all the senses in the attitude towards food. This research creates multisensory experiences for new generations of restaurant guests.

The most expensive restaurant in the world, Sublimotion, is located on the Spanish island of Ibiza within the Hard Rock Hotel, and the chef and concept creator Paco Roncero concept is the holder of two Michelin stars. Since its opening in 2014, this restaurant has been at the very top of the world culinary ladder. It is more than merely a physical place where you will have dinner. Sublimotion is a set of emotions and “capsule for space and time travel”, as defined by Paco. Undoubtedly, its greatest strength is the combination of gastronomy and the best staging. Unfortunately, this endless range of sensations is limited to just twelve guests per night and it is really hard to book a table.

Sublimotion serves Spanish avant-garde cuisine in the form of a 20-course tasting menu, served for three hours. Collaborating with the most brilliant designers, stage directors, engineers, composers and illusionists will allow you to travel to a new dimension that can only be explained by first-hand experience. In addition to gastronomic pleasure, the restaurant provides an overall sensory experience, special lights, smells, sounds, and even the humidity changes in accordance with the menu. The dining room consists of one long table surrounded by multimedia panels, while on the walls there are huge digital displays for the projection of vivid images that change depending on the food served.

With a powerful gastronomic performance, Sublimotion turns the table into the best possible environment in the world. A creative process that is different from any other art scene fits the disciplines that have existed side by side so far and manages to merge them into a concept that elevates the restaurant to the next level of entertainment. Thus, Ibiza has become a new paradise of gastronomic fusion and avant-garde, and chefs have become new alchemists.
