Marina Punat: 60 years of nautical experience

Marina Punat: 60 years of nautical experience

The marina in Punat is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, which is a special moment not only for the marina itself, but also for nautical tourism on the eastern side of the Adriatic. From its humble beginnings in 1964 until today, Marina Punat has been synonymous with quality, safety and experience

Marina, as the hub of life at sea, represents much more than just a place for mooring boats. It is a place where nautical experience is gained, where sea adventures begin, long-term friendships are created, and above all – it is a place where love of the sea and sailing is passed down from generation to generation – and has been so for 60 years.

What has always been a distinguishing feature of Marina Punat is innovation and the use of technology in nautical activities and safety. In an effort to offer their clients more than “boat keeping”, a number of services have been created to increase safety of vessels, such as the globally accepted system of smart sensors for vessels Sense4Boat or the system of monitoring and digital data reporting on the state of the vessel to the owner, as well as introduction of four ISO standards into nautical business and the Blue Flag, which was first raised in a Croatian marina right here in Punat.

The naturally protected Puntarska Draga bay is a sensitive eco-system and a valuable resource that has dictated high standards of environmental protection since the marina was founded. The most environmentally friendly solutions are always chosen from the available options, and many activities are aimed at additional protection or improvement of the environment. Storm water purification system is implemented along the entire operational coast where the works are being carried out. The importance of reducing pollution and using energy from renewable sources was recognized more than 20 years ago. The first solar panels were installed in 2012.

It is known that the boat is usually the second home –– and so it has been for 60 years in the famous Marina Punat

The Marina Punat Group entered its jubilee year with the realization of two major investments: new “Marina” restaurant was built and a new travel lift with a load capacity of up to 540 tons was purchased. Due to its width of 16 meters and the ability to lift large yachts, it is the largest of its type on this side of the Adriatic. The modern crane is intended for vessels up to 16 m wide and enables maintenance of medium and large motor boats, increasingly popular catamarans, and superyachts, while a hundred-year-long experience in shipbuilding and vessel maintenance are a guarantee of top quality yacht service.

Just a few months ago, the new restaurant ”Marina”, with a capacity of up to 300 people, started operating. The space is divided into two floors and several thematic and functional units, in order to provide guests with the most pleasant experience. The most beautiful view and a more intimate atmosphere are available on the first floor, where the restaurant of discreet elegance can accommodate up to 60 persons, with a spectacular view of Puntarska Draga bay, piers and luxury yachts along the promenade from the restaurant and from the balcony. The menu is somewhat more refined, with an emphasis on the best fish and slowly prepared dishes, leaving plenty of time to relax and enjoy the view, but also to taste the island aperitifs and consult the sommelier on the selection of wines from the extensive wine list.

The novelty is a multipurpose hall with a capacity of up to 80 people, intended for business gatherings or smaller private celebrations. In combination with the restaurant, it is ideal for team building, PR and other celebrations, as well as for family gatherings or weddings.

Today, boats sailing under 25 international flags are moored in Punat, and the so-called “residents” of the marina come from almost 30 countries of the world. In the past sixty years, Marina Punat has received numerous awards, both by economic experts and by sailors. However, client satisfaction is the greatest reward and the best indicator of quality, and we know that the boat is usually the second home –– and so it has been for 60 years!
