The TT550 follows the TT460, but its additional meters are not the only change. It shifts the scale of the entire TT line. Invictus has built a recognizable world of open, elegant, Mediterranean-style boats, and with this model that world moves into a more serious class: 16.87 m in length, 5.04 m in beam, Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, and a layout that places the main story firmly on deck. The TT550 is therefore intended for a very specific owner: one for whom the position of the sun, the rhythm of the cockpit, the number of swims, and the ease of moving from lunch to the water and from stern to bow matter more than a large enclosed saloon.
Presented at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival, the TT550 was immediately positioned as one of the key models in the latest Invictus offering. The shipyard sees it as the natural evolution of the TT series, with exterior zones developed to strengthen the experience of life at sea. On the TT550, the development effort is clearly focused where the boat is lived the most: on open areas, movement across the deck, and closeness to the water.
Design That Knows When to Hold Back
Invictus is easy to recognize, and the TT550 uses that recognizability without excess. The semi-reverse bow, long hull line, high bulwarks, and carbon-fiber hardtop give it a profile with tension, but without aggression. Christian Grande does not draw a boat that demands attention by shouting. He draws one that holds attention through proportion.
That is an important distinction. In the segment of large open yachts, the effect is often overplayed: too many angles, too much movement, too many attempts to show strength at first glance. The TT550 takes another route. Its silhouette is sporty, but disciplined. It works best when it is not seen as a static object, but as a space in motion: the bow cutting through the frame, the hardtop protecting the center of the deck, and the stern opening as soon as the boat stops.
The Stone White hull and Cloudy Cognac upholstery further soften the boat’s technical character. Invictus once again plays with materials, colors, and touch, not only with form. This is where the brand deserves credit: the TT550 looks designed, but not like an exhibition piece afraid of salt.
The Stern Carries the Concept
If there is one reason the TT550 deserves a cover story, it is at the stern. The submersible platform, open aft area, large bench with folding backrest, central sunpad, tender garage, and fold-down side terraces work together. All these elements function as a single deck system. When the side platforms are lowered, the cockpit becomes a surface above the water, open to port, starboard, and aft. The aft beach club then becomes the center of life at anchor and clearly shows why the TT550 is more than a large day boat.
That is the strongest praise for the TT550, and the key to understanding it. The deck takes priority over the interior here, and the boat’s character grows from that. At anchor, this stern becomes a living room, a beach, a tender platform, a place for lunch, sunbathing, and conversation. The TT550 works best when used as it was designed: open, full of life, and close to the water.
The Bow Is Not Decoration
Many open yachts place a sunpad on the bow and stop there. The TT550 goes further. High bulwarks lead to a protected bow area with a corner sofa, table, and large lounging surfaces. With carbon-fiber poles and awnings, this space becomes ideal for lunch, a quiet afternoon, or an evening drink, while still keeping contact with the horizon.
The Interior Knows Its Role
Precision matters here. The TT550’s interior has a clear, deliberately limited role.
Below deck, Invictus offers two cabins and two bathrooms, with the option of a third cabin or an additional galley. An optional crew cabin further expands the model’s use, especially if the TT550 is used as a chase boat or support vessel for a larger yacht.
This is enough for a long weekend and more serious time at sea, but a buyer expecting a classic family yacht with a large interior saloon will miss the point. The TT550 is not designed to take you away from the sea. Its interior exists so the day on deck can last longer: to sleep, shower, rest, and change the rhythm.
Technology Without Theatrics
The official engine options include two Volvo Penta IPS800 or IPS950 systems, while the technical specifications list a full loaded displacement of 24 t, a capacity for 14 people, Cantieri Aschenez as the shipyard, and design by Christian Grande.
IPS is a logical choice for a boat of this type. It brings easier maneuvering, better control in the marina, and a calmer feel in everyday use. The TT550 does not sell itself through a raw story about speed, nor does it need to. Its technology is there to remove effort from a large open boat. When the deck carries this much life, propulsion should be a quiet ally, not the main attraction.
It is also worth noting that structural fiberglass tanks are integrated into the hull, while PET, a recyclable thermoplastic resin, is used in the construction to reduce weight and improve efficiency. This should not be turned into a major “green” statement, because the TT550 remains a powerful motor yacht of almost 17 m. Still, it is worth noting that the shipyard is thinking not only about aesthetics, but also about weight, balance, and the long-term behavior of the hull.
For the Adriatic, With the Right Regional Support
In the Adriatic context, the TT550 makes clear sense: short distances, many anchorages, long days outdoors, and owners who use the boat as a private shoreline. Its advantages quickly come into focus here: beam, side terraces, submersible platform, a bow that is not merely a passageway, and a stern that becomes the main living area.
Still, this is not a universal yacht. The TT550 is best suited to an owner who chooses an open concept and accepts that luxury here is measured by the quality of a day on deck, rather than the size of an enclosed saloon.
