Andre Čakar Adriatic Wave boat buying consultation

Interview: Andre Čakar, Adriatic Wave – BUYING A BOAT: STEP BY STEP

Buying a boat is a process, and the decision is rarely made in a single day. From the first conversation and choosing the configuration to delivery and ongoing support, the key is translating wishes into a realistic plan and calm, confident cruising. We focused on the topics future owners care about most, and the story below follows the process step by step

MOST COMMON QUESTIONS FROM FUTURE OWNERS

1. What matters most at the first meeting?

The first meeting is dedicated to understanding the client’s wishes and needs, based on which we recommend the most suitable model. At the start, we typically discuss cabin layout, performance, and price comparisons, followed by technical questions, a sea trial, and selecting the ideal configuration.

2. How do we choose the right model?

Throughout the process, as we gradually and thoroughly learn the client’s preferences and how they plan to use the boat, we continuously advise and guide them toward the best possible choice. Based on our experience, we often notice that a client has not considered certain options or solutions that could significantly improve functionality and onboard comfort. In such cases, we propose alternative or additional solutions, which clients frequently accept, and many later reach out to share how satisfied they are and how helpful those recommendations proved to be.

3. What is included in a custom configuration?

Once the model is definitively selected, we move on to creating a custom-made configuration fully tailored to the client’s wishes and needs. This phase includes a detailed selection of technical and aesthetic equipment, such as electronics, engine power and type, interior and exterior materials, finishes, furniture, and other individualized options. The goal is to create a boat that matches the client’s style, habits, and expectations in every aspect.

From purchase to delivery, we carry out regular inspections at the shipyard, as well as a final sea inspection during handover. Throughout the process, with our support, the client can follow the build progress and stay informed at every production stage. This ensures full transparency and a high level of trust.

4. Who handles registration, the marina, and insurance?

In parallel with the build process, we take over and coordinate all administrative and logistical activities related to the boat’s future use. This includes preparing and handling documentation for registration, advising and assisting with selecting a suitable marina, arranging insurance, and choosing a tender and additional equipment in line with the client’s needs and cruising style.

5. What do handover and after-sales support look like?

At handover, we provide a detailed introduction to the boat, guiding the owner through all systems, equipment, and onboard functions. We give clear, practical instructions on operation, maintenance, and safety procedures so they can enjoy their new boat from day one with confidence and peace of mind.

From that point on, our after-sales support begins. It is a core part of our approach, because we believe the relationship with a client does not end at handover. Long-term support, quick response times, and reliable assistance throughout every stage of ownership ensure a worry-free experience and reinforce the value of the purchase decision.

Of course, we also organize private events exclusively for our clients as a sign of appreciation and trust, such as our La Dolce Vita event in Šibenik last year.

6. Which models are in the highest demand today?

At the moment, it is difficult to single out one model as the most attractive, because buyers are different and each has their own wishes, habits, and expectations. That is why we believe every client should choose the model that fully matches their real needs, intended use, and planned cruising style, rather than relying on trends alone. Still, one general trend is clear: growing interest in larger models that offer a higher level of comfort, space, and autonomy at sea. When it comes to boat type, demand is evenly split between navetta and flybridge models, which confirms that both concepts have their audience and clearly defined advantages, depending on each client’s preferences and how they plan to use the boat.
