Azimut Seadeck 9: The Stern Takes Center Stage

The largest model in the Seadeck Series and the largest yacht ever built at Azimut’s shipyard in Avigliana measures 25.6 meters in length, features a 58-square-meter Fun Island, and is set for its public debut at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival

Azimut Seadeck 9 was launched in early 2026 in Avigliana, in a setting that, at first glance, feels far removed from the usual image of a Mediterranean shipyard. This is where the interesting part of the story begins: the largest Seadeck to date was built at the foot of the mountains, in a facility Azimut has further adapted in recent years for the more demanding production of yachts of this size. Seadeck 9 is also the largest yacht ever built in Avigliana. This fact says much about the importance of this series for Azimut and about the shipyard’s reliance on its own manufacturing discipline, engineering expertise, and the investment plan launched in 2023.

With a length of 25.6 meters and a beam of 6.3 meters, Seadeck 9 sits at the top of the Seadeck Series. The product guide lists configurations with four or five cabins, five or six heads, and two crew cabins for a total of three crew members. The standard version has three Volvo IPS 1200 units, with a preliminary top speed of 27 knots, while the optional configuration with three Volvo IPS 1350 units raises the top speed to 29 knots. Seakeeper is also available as an option.

From the beginning, the Seadeck Series has carried the idea of Back to Nature, but on Seadeck 9 that message works most convincingly at the stern. Azimut achieves its strongest effect here through the way the aft section of the yacht becomes the main living area. The Fun Island, when the open wings are deployed, covers 58 square meters and is arranged as a sequence of terraces on the water, with a pool, loungers, and a platform that brings the space closer to the sea. This is where it becomes clearest why the Seadeck Series has a different rhythm from classic motor yachts of this size.

The exteriors are by Alberto Mancini, while the interiors are by Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez. That combination matters because the Seadeck Series draws attention to the relationship between space, light, and materials. In the product guide, the interior is linked to the philosophy of Conscious Design, with an emphasis on a design approach based on subtraction, natural or recycled materials, and a calmer experience of luxury. This may be one of the most interesting aspects of the Seadeck concept: here, luxury is measured by how easily one can inhabit the space.

Large glass surfaces and the opening of the interior toward the exterior areas continue the same logic. The salon, cockpit, and stern terrace function as connected spaces, while everyday life on board shifts closer to the sea. On Seadeck 9, the sea enters the layout as an extension of the salon and as a central point of life on board. It is a small but important difference, especially for owners who spend longer periods on board with family or guests, and for whom the stern represents far more than a place for a swim between passages.

With this series, Azimut has also taken a serious approach to sustainability, but with Seadeck 9 it is important to remain precise. The model is ready to install the Volvo Penta hybrid propulsion system, continuing the direction already introduced by the series. Here, sustainability can be seen in the possibility of hybrid propulsion, a more careful selection of materials, an abundance of natural light, and a layout that keeps the owner closer to the sea.

The public debut of Seadeck 9 is planned for the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival. There, it will become clear for the first time how this leading model of the series looks beyond renderings and the product guide, in real proportions, with its large stern area as the main asset. Cannes will also show how it is positioned alongside Seadeck 6 and Seadeck 7, within a series that has gained three models in just two years: Seadeck 6 was presented in May 2024, Seadeck 7 in September of the same year, while Seadeck 9 completes the line in 2026.

What will be most interesting to see is whether the stern, conceived as a large open-air salon, works just as convincingly in person; how naturally the interior communicates with the exterior space; and whether Azimut’s idea of quieter luxury retains its strength once you step on board. If, in reality, Seadeck 9 preserves the lightness promised by its lines and layout, it could become one of the models visitors return to at Cannes.
