In May 2023, Aston Martin officially presented the long-awaited sports model DB12, described by the British manufacturer as “the world’s first Super Tourer”
The DB12 comes in the year in which Aston Martin celebrates its 110th anniversary. The company was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, starting with a small workshop. Over the next 110 years, this manufacturer sold more than 110,000 cars and built many successful racing “beasts”.
Compared to its predecessor (DB11), the new DB12 features a new front bumper, a larger grille, a pronounced splitter, evolutionary design LED headlights, a new hood and a revised Aston Martin badge. Also featured are new 21-inch wheels, as well as Michelin Pilot 5s tires with polyurethane foam inserts that will reduce the level of tire noise in the cabin by 20 percent.
There is no need to say much about the design – the pictures say it all, but there is also a multitude of invisible innovations. Beneath the attractive body is a hidden reinforced aluminum structure that improves the rigidity of the chassis by an additional seven percent. There is also an all-new suspension with stiffer anti-roll bars.
The cockpit captivates with a combination of luxury and sporty charm. However, it should be highlighted that on the 10.25-inch screen the Aston Martin BD12 now has its own multimedia, which is no longer shared with several times cheaper Mercedes models.
Aston Martin has abandoned the idea of large knobs for gear shift, and instead we now have a miniature joystick and a few buttons on the centre console. It is important to mention that there are almost no buttons in that zone anymore, the designer has specially chosen analog keys and rotary switches. Instead of the audio system by the Bang & Olufsen brand, a product of the renowned company Bowers & Wilkins was mounted, now featuring fifteen instead of the previous thirteen speakers.

For the first time, an Aston Martin is equipped with an electronically controlled differential. It will be a useful innovation, given that 680 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque are delivered to the rear axle via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Drive is provided by AMG’s V8 four-litre engine, and the power is enough to accelerate the DB12 to one hundred kilometers per hour in just 3.5 seconds, as well as to reach a maximum speed of 325 kilometers per hour.
The DB12 debuted in Cannes during the famous film festival, and the first car was sold at a charity auction. It fetched a whopping €1.5 million, roughly five times its regular price.
