INTERVIEW WITH DENIS SUKA – SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE YACHTING INDUSTRY

The emergence and rise of social media as a key source of information has positioned influencers as a major form of marketing today. The path to success in that business is to find a niche market and establish a dominant position as a player in that niche. TheYachtMogul is an Instagram profile created  by Denis Suka 2.5 years ago from the love and passion for yachts and ocean lifestyle. Denis turned that passion into one profile and since day one he has been very dedicated to learn everything about yachts. His aim is to create beautiful content and inspire more people.

1. Why did you choose this career?

I was always curious to know more about those luxury mega toys moving through seas and oceans anchoring in the world’s most famous harbors and drawing everyone’s attention. I said to myself „There must be something special about superyachts and that’s where I belong”.

2. What is the importance of feedback in your business?

All of the success I dedicate to @theyachtmogul fans that keep me motivated. I will continue to inspire them with superyacht contents from all of over the world and collaborating with people in the industry. The feedback has been amazing so far as @theyachtmogul counts over 260+ follows and millions of visitors monthly.

3. How did success change your life?

Being a Yacht Influencer has changed my life and given me the opportunity to connect, work and collaborate with clients, brokers and public figures in yachting industry. Also, I often receive invitations for yacht shows & private yacht events from some of largest brokerage companies.

4. Where do you think the yacht industry is headed in this age of technology?

The yachting industry has definitely benefited from technology during the last years as everything is easier comparing to the old times. I see the yachting industry heading towards “green”, such as hydrogen or hybrid-electric powered engines, which are also good for the environment. Thanks to technology for giving us the opportunity to explore more about yachting through social media which is actually the best place where we can see all the yachts, make connections with brokerage houses/brokers and for clients to find their dream yacht.Technology plays the key role for the future of yachting industry!

5. In 2009 Apple launched a slogan „There’s an app for that“. Nowadays, it really seems you can use your phone for mostly everything. What sailing app do you like to use?

The sailing app I like to use is „GoSailing“. It is an excellent app to connect with other sailing enthusiasts and find the best local spots when you’re out cruising. It’s a social media platform for sailors, and it’s a great way to meet people who share the hobby. Others often use the app to find other sailors to join them on their trips, and some people use it to find crew members or spare parts in an emergency. It’s always great to be part of a community, and this app can help you find people who can be a great asset during your sailing trips.

6. Where is your dream vacation?

My dream vacation is definitely French Polynesia. I love going there, one of the main reasons is scuba diving, where you can explore the underwater world while surrounding yourself with sharks, dolphins, whales and many other different species. One of the main things I like there is the overwater bungalows where you can relax and enjoy drinking coconut, listening the sound of the ocean and getting creative. I would say the French Polynesia is the paradise on Earth!
